Weir Phillips Heritage was engaged as the nominated heritage consultant for the Wynyard Station Upgrade, a major infrastructure project delivered as part of the wider Barangaroo Development.
Our involvement included the preparation of heritage documentation to support statutory approvals prior to construction, ensuring the works were sensitively integrated within one of Sydney’s busiest and most historically layered transport hubs. We also provided heritage input into the approvals process for Interloop, the acclaimed interpretive artwork by Chris Fox at the York Street entrance. The installation creatively reimagines Wynyard’s iconic wooden escalators, preserving their memory as a celebrated piece of Sydney’s commuter history.
