Weir Phillips Heritage worked alongside Annabelle Chapman Architects to sensitively adapt a deteriorated Victorian weatherboard worker’s cottage into a generous and contemporary family home.
The original four front rooms and central hall were retained to accommodate bedrooms and bathrooms, while the rear lean-to was removed to allow for a new wing containing open-plan living spaces, a kitchen, laundry, and butler’s pantry. The design of the new addition carefully respected the proportions, scale, and vernacular character of the original cottage, allowing the transformed home to sit comfortably within the surrounding heritage conservation area. Weir Phillips Heritage provided expert advice to ensure the project’s successful integration into its historic context.
