Orient Hotel, The Rocks

The Orient Hotel in The Rocks was built upon the site of Sydney’s first hospital. The building on site was completed in the Colonial Georgian Style in 1844. When Resch’s Limited took over the lease in the 1920s, a number of additions and alterations were made, including introduction of the existing suspended awning.

Weir Phillips Heritage and Planning assisted Place Management NSW in overseeing and advising on much-needed conservation works to the exterior of the hotel.
