Designed by prominent Sydney architects Kent and Budden and opened in 1903, the heritage-listed Legion House was originally built for the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) as a place of support and community for working women.
Weir Phillips Heritage worked closely with FJMT Studio and developer Grocon to conserve and adapt this important building as part of a broader development that included the ANZ Tower on Pitt Street. Key challenges included guiding the design of a vertical addition, integrating contemporary accessibility and fire compliance requirements, and supporting the transformation of Legion House into a Six-Star Green Star rated commercial building. Our heritage input helped ensure that sustainable innovation was achieved without compromising the building’s architectural and cultural significance.
