This Functionalist Style heritage listed building was the third and final city store constructed for David Jones Pty Ltd. The building was constructed in stages from 1938 as a dedicated Menswear Store. After David Jones vacated the site in 2020, it was purchased as a joint venture by Cbus Property and Scentre Group.
Weir Phillips Heritage and Planning are providing a full range of heritage consultancy services for the project. We were involved in obtaining statutory approvals for the Stage 2 DA and continue to provide advisory services during the construction of a 22-story residential tower above the original building. The project is due for completion in 2024. The original building will be adaptively reused for retail and commercial uses.
We continue to work closely with architects, FJMT Studio, and owners, Cbus Property and Scentre Group, to realise their vision to revitalise this iconic Sydney site.
